Does your Logitech G X56 HOTAS Joystick have calibration issues and/or unwanted presses or axis movements? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.
Issues with USB Port Connection
An outdated USB 2.0 port can cause power consumption issues, which may be reflected in the Joystick's erratic/miscalibrated inputs.
- Connect the Joystick to its own dedicated USB port, separate from the throttle.
- Remove additional consoles that might be connected to the computer.
- Connect the Joystick to a USB 3.0 port. The USB 2.0 port supplies 500mA output, which may not be enough for the Joystick. The USB 3.0 port outputs 900mA, which is enough for the Joystick and throttle
- A powered USB hub should provide enough power to the Joystick and throttle.
A nonfunctional USB port may also cause issues. To check if your USB port works:
- Open Device Manager. Press the Windows key + X, then select "Device Manager."
- Expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and look for devices that have an exclamation mark
- If you see an error on a device, right-click on it and select "Uninstall device."
- Click "Action" in the Device Manager menu, then "Scan for hardware changes."
- Right-click on the USB device and select "Update driver."
Joystick Needs Calibration
The Joystick can lose its precise calibration through shipping, prolonged usage, and temperature changes. To recalibrate the Joystick:
- Press Win + R, type joy.cpl, and press Enter.
- Select Logitech G X56 HOTAS from the list, then click Properties.
- The Test tab will automatically open. Select the Calibration button from there and follow the on-screen instructions to recalibrate the Joystick.
Outdated Logitech Software & Drivers
Outdated drivers or Logitech G HUB/X56 software can cause conflicts with Joystick movements. Visit Logitech's official website, https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/innovati..., to download the latest updates for the X56 HOTAS and ensure Logitech G HUB or X56 software is current.
System Errors
Connect the Joystick to a different PC to determine if the issue is hardware-related. If the Joystick responds to a different PC, the problem may be with your current PC's settings or software.
Dead Zone Needs Adjustment
Having a small dead zone can cause erratic inputs if there is dust buildup
- To adjust the dead zone setting, select Logitech G X56 HOTAS from the Logitech G HUB software.
- Go to settings, find axis settings, and choose dead zone adjustments
- Adjust the dead zone settings to the preferred setting for the user by increasing or decreasing the sensitivity
- Then save your changes to your Joystick profile
