The Battery Is Completely Drained
If your laptop doesn’t respond at all when you press the power button, the battery might be empty. Plug in the charger and wait at least 15–30 minutes before trying again. If there’s still no response, try a different charger or outlet to rule out charging problems.
Charger or Charging Port Is Faulty
If the charging light doesn’t turn on, there could be an issue with the charger or charging port. Inspect the charger cable and adapter for damage. If possible, test with a known-working charger. Also check the charging port for debris, loose connections, or signs of wear.
Laptop Needs a Hard Reset
Sometimes, the system can become unresponsive due to a power state glitch. Disconnect the charger and all accessories. Then press and hold the power button for 10–15 seconds to force a reset. Plug the charger back in and try turning the device on again.
Battery Connection Is Loose
If the internal battery connector is loose or not properly seated, the laptop may not power on even when plugged in. Opening the device and reseating the battery connector may resolve the issue.
Motherboard or Power Button Failure
If there are no signs of life—no charging light, no fan noise, no screen backlight—the motherboard or power button may have failed. Diagnosing this requires further disassembly or professional repair.
BIOS or Firmware Corruption
A corrupted BIOS or firmware can prevent the laptop from turning on. If your model has a small pinhole reset (Novo button), use a paperclip to press it and access recovery options. If available, select BIOS Setup and restore factory defaults.
