If your Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e Gen 6 is turned on, but the screen/display only shows a black screen, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Drivers Need to be Updated
The graphic drivers need to be updated. An out-of-date driver could have trouble displaying properly. First, press Win+Shift+Ctrl+B. This should get you out of the black screen. Then, make sure to update your laptop and the drivers to the latest possible version to prevent this issue from happening again.
Plugged-in Devices Damaged
Devices plugged into your laptop may be damaged or faulty, interfering with the display. Try unplugging these devices, and then restart your laptop.
LCD is Damaged
The LCD Is what displays the screen on the laptop, which means a damaged or faulty one can cause this issue. Using an HDMI cable, connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV. Restart your laptop and see if the display appears on the external connection. You may have to press the key showing a rectangular box with vertical lines on the left and right to get it to display on the monitor (This key can be F4). If your screen displays on the second monitor, Then the LCD or the LCD cable is the issue. Schedule a repair with a technician if this is the case, as the LCD is incredibly delicate.
Glitch with the Hardware
Something may have gone wrong with the hardware/software, causing issues with the screen. In this case, a hard reset of the laptop may be needed. A hard reset returns the laptop components to their normal state.
1. Turn off the laptop. Then unplug everything from it
2. Take out the laptop battery (NOTE: IF THE BATTERY APPEARS TO BE PUFFY, REFER TO THE “BATTERY IS DAMAGED” SECTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE). Check our replacement guide here for how to remove it
3. Let the laptop sit for 30 minutes. Then hold the power button for 60 seconds
4. Place the battery back into the laptop.
5. Plug the laptop back in. Now try starting it.
Glitch with explorer.exe
Explorer.exe is a program that runs on all Windows products. The screen might not be displaying properly because this program may have been closed on accident or glitched out.
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete. This opens task manager. Click the task manager button.
2. Find Windows Explorer in the files. Click on it, then click “Restart”
The Battery is Damaged
The laptop overheating has damaged the battery. A low or dead battery could mean the display cannot display properly. Check out our replacement guide here.
