Lenovo ThinkPad L470 Touchpad Not Working
The touchpad does not move the cursor, click, or recognize gestures. Use the red TrackPoint or a USB mouse so you can follow these steps.
Touchpad Is Turned Off in Windows
Windows may have the touchpad set to Off. Open Settings and search for Touchpad. Turn the touchpad On. Then open Additional mouse options, go to the ThinkPad tab, and make sure Enable Touchpad is checked.
Touchpad Was Toggled Off With a Function Key
Many ThinkPads can disable the touchpad with a keyboard shortcut. Press and hold the Function (Fn) key and tap the key that shows a touchpad icon to re enable it. If you are unsure which key it is, look across the top row and try the one with the touchpad symbol.
Touchpad Driver Needs an Update
Windows may not recognize the touchpad if its driver is missing or out of date. Open Lenovo Vantage, select System Update, check for updates, and install any Touchpad, Trackpad, UltraNav, or Input driver it finds. Restart the computer and test the touchpad. If Lenovo Vantage is not installed, get it from the Microsoft Store, or use Device Manager by opening Mice and other pointing devices, right-clicking the ThinkPad touchpad, choosing Update driver, and selecting Search automatically.
Power Management Is Turning Off the Touchpad
Windows can power down the L470’s touchpad to save energy, which makes it stop responding. Open Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing devices, right-click the ThinkPad touchpad entry, and open Properties. In the Power Management tab, uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power, then restart. For good measure, do the same for any USB Root Hub entries under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
