Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 2 Produces Unusual Sounds
There’s a weird sound coming from my computer after using it for a long time, and the temperature is rising and over heating.
Due to the sensitive nature of electronic components, be sure to wear an electro magnetic wrist band or ground yourself by touching metal to avoid electrostatic discharge. Electrostatic discharge can fry your motherboard and make your computer not turn on.
Dust Build Up
******First make sure your computer is off before using the Phillips 00 iFixit head. Unscrew the M2 x 5mm spring-loaded screws and use the blue chip at the edges to gently dislodge the computer and release the clips gently opening up the bottom. If the fan is dusty, use compressed air and blow out the fan and the CPU vent. If that does not do the trick, then you will need to remove your fan and replace it.
Broken Fan
On the fan, unscrew the 2 black M2 x 6 mm screws and the silver M2 x 8mm screw. Partially remove the fan by lifting it slightly towards you so it is removed from the computer. Then remove the cable by using a tweezer or two fingers. Connect the new fan’s cable to the motherboard and align it, then screw the spring-loaded screws back in.
