Lenovo ThinkPad L14 Gen 2 Battery Drains Quickly
My laptop’s battery drains quickly and it abruptly shuts down sometimes. It takes too long to charge and won't respond at all on some occasions.
Due to the sensitive nature of electronic components, be sure to wear an electro magnetic wrist band or ground yourself by touching metal to avoid electrostatic discharge. Electrostatic discharge can fry your motherboard and make your computer not turn on.
Aging Battery
The decaying battery of your computer could be caused by its age, they lose their charge over time. Additionally, overheating could possibly damage internal components of your laptop, including the battery. The best things to do are: in terms of software, close all background tabs or apps and turn down the brightness; in terms of hardware, a battery replacement is recommended. Start by unscrewing the 9 M2 x 7 mm screws from the back plate. Use the blue iFixit pick to separate the back plate from the rest of the computer by slowly sliding it across the area separating the back panel and the keyboard segment. After locating the battery, remove the 3 M2 x 5 mm screws. Holding the battery by the edges, partially lift it up. and pull the battery cable to the right by gripping the black strip.
Faulty Charger Cable or Dirty Charger Port
If your laptop is taking too long to charge, you may want to look into the charging port or the charger cable you are using. The charger could be defective, or simply isn’t designed for your device. If the charger and cable are both compatible, another probable cause could be dust buildup in the charging port hindering the connection. Before attempting to clean, make sure your laptop is unplugged, turned off, and cold. Try using a cotton swab or wooden toothpick to pick out the lint. You can also use a can of compressed air.
