Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 Battery Not Charging
When you plug the charging cable into your ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 and the charging symbol appears on your monitor, but the battery still doesn't charge. Follow these steps to get your ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 running.
Battery Health is Limiting Charging Capacity
Your battery health determines how well your power runs. Depending on where it is in its lifespan will tell you how to proceed in fixing it.
- In windows, open your Lenovo Vantage Application
- Click the "Device" > "Power" section to view your batteries capacity and cycles. Here it will tell you about your ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 battery lifespan and if it needs replaced.
System Driver is Outdated
Your driver includes all software's that allow your ThinkPad E14 Gen 2 to run; this includes the battery driver. If your battery driver is not updated to the latest version or software, it may not be performing to its fullest.
- In windows, launch the Lenovo Vantage application
- Select the "System Update' tab or option within the Vantage app
- Click on "Check for Updates" to scan your system for available updates
- Install any listed updates, particularly the Lenovo Battery Firmware Update Utility or other relevant battery drivers, by selecting them and proceeding with the installation.
Faulty or Dead Battery Not Powering Device
The battery itself powers the ThinkPad E14 Gen 2. Overtime, the battery deteriorates and may need to be replaced if going dead.
- Disconnect the AC adapter
- Power off the laptop
- Disable the battery in the BIOS
- Remove the seven captive screws
- Pry off the bottom cover
- Disconnect the battery cable
- Unscrew the three captive screws holding the battery
- Lift out the old battery
- Install the new one
- Secure it with screws
- Reconnect the battery cable
- Snap the bottom cover back into place
- Tighten the seven screws
- Reconnect the power adapter to test the new battery.
