If your Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e Gen 6 will not charge, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Programs Taking Up Power
If there are multiple programs running on the laptop, the power demand may prevent the laptop from effectively charging. Close all programs and check if the laptop is charging. If so, then the programs were taking more power than could be charged.
Debris in Charging Port
Dust and other debris can build up in the charging port depending on where the device is being stored. This can cause an obstruction that prevents the charger from making contact in the port preventing the laptop from charging. Check the port for any large debris that would be getting in the way. If it is clear, take a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and swab the port to break down any build up and clean out dust. It should be quick but allow the alcohol to dry out before testing the charger again.
Faulty Charger
This laptop uses a USB-C charging cable. If you have another device that uses this cable such as a phone, check to see if the charging cable works with it. If the other device charges with the cable, then the issue is not with the charging cable.
Before inspecting the charging cable, make sure it is unplugged and discharged to prevent harm via electric shock. Check for any breaks in the casing. Bending the cable can cause this casing to rip, exposing the wires. Exposed wires can lead to a loss in effectiveness, causing the charger to not provide enough power to charge. If there are exposed wires, check for broken or frayed ones. These will prevent electricity from getting through to the laptop. If the wires are broken or damaged, replace the charging cable. If there are no fully broken wires, but there are still tears in the casing, wrap electrical tape tightly around tear. Test charging cable.
Damaged Charging Port
The charging port of the laptop should have a single long flat piece in the center. This is what is used as a contact with the charging cable to provide power. There is also a metal casing around the inside of the port that if bent will prevent the charger from sitting properly in the port. If that is damaged, then the charging port will not function. Replace the charging port.
Battery is Not Functional
If the battery is old or nonfunctional, it will not hold a charge. While plugged into the charger, the laptop can still power on even with a faulty battery. Remove the battery and plug the laptop into the charger. If the laptop still powers on, the issue is in the battery. Replace battery.
