When you press the keyboard keys, if it doesn't work and/or nothing appears when you type, follow this troubleshooting guide for possible solutions.
Quick Check
- Restart your laptop: A quick, simple restart may fix the issue.
Software & Issues
- Check for Chromebook Updates: Settings > About ChromeOS > Check for updates.
- Update or reinstall the Keyboard Driver: Powerwash (Factory Reset) if keyboard issues persist.
Keyboard is Dirty
- Deep clean the keyboard: Dust and fiber may cause the keys to be stuck or stop responding. Use compressed air to blow out the dust and isopropyl alcohol and a Q-tip to clean the keyboard.
Faulty Keyboard
- If some keys don’t work and the rest are normal or if you've spilled a liquid and it doesn't work even after you've dried it out, the upper case with keyboard will need to be replaced. For guidance on replacing the upper case with keyboard, refer to the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook Hardware Maintenance Manual
