Lenovo IdeaPad 1-15IJL7 Slow Performance
The performance of the Lenovo IdeaPad 1-15JL7 is slow when doing basic tasks.
Many applications are running in the background
Having too many background processes can bog down the computer greatly. There are ways to stop these processes and improve performance.⏎
- Check if there are any web browsers open and delete any unnecessary tabs you have open. Having many tabs opened can really use up the small amount of ram that the IdeaPad has and that causes slow performance. Do the same to any other applications you have open as well.
- For a deeper look at what resources is being used, open up Task Manager. Simply press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and it will display. You can see what programs are being run on your screen and in the background where you cannot see. You can sort the programs on how much CPU or RAM is being used. Find ones that are using too much and click End Task.
- In the same task manager window, you can click on the side bar where it says Startup apps. You can sort by how much a program impacts startup performance to get much faster loading speeds.
Malware
Checking for malware is always a good thing to do whenever you feel your computer is slow.
- In the windows search bar, search for Windows Security. Once it is open, click on the Virus & threat protection button. From here, you can perform a quick scan or utilize other scans from the Scan options button.
- You can utilize a third-party malware detection program such as Malwarebytes to do the same thing as well.
Outdated software
Keeping software such as Windows can help keep your machine running smooth.
- In the windows search bar, search for Settings. In the sidebar of settings, click Windows update, then check for updates or update if there is an update pending.
- Your computer will restart once it is downloaded and install it.
- Once finished, check again to be sure you have all updates.
