My Kurio is not charging
Please see the listed causes that can likely affect charging issues.
USB cable damaged
It is possible the USB cable that came with your device is worn out or deteriorated. Go ahead and examine the cable for any injury or tears. If so try using a new cable and see if it makes a difference.
Micro-USB charging port loose
Ports inside the device can become loose after a while. This can result in issues with charging the battery. Inspect that there is no debris inside the port that the charger could have packed down the slot during charging sessions. If after gently cleaning the area, and the charging issue is not resolved you may have to replace the charging port. Check out our port repair guide for that!
Charging port is damaged/ failing
Hold the 7S to a light and see if there are any black residue around the charge port. If so, it is possibly on the verge of going out. If you continue to charge your Kurio while harm has been made to the Micro-USB port, the charge port may burn and you might lose the 7S. Conclude the charging port will need to be replaced. Refer to the Micro-USB charging port replacement guide for more direction.
Distorted Audio
Speakers are making noise or having no audio output causing poor quality of sound for the user.
Audio playback issue
A possible cause for issues with audio not generating can be from having the volume levels changed. Check if the volume is not muted, or the volume level is not at the lowest setting. Confirm volume settings are at your preference and try rebooting the Kurio. If there is still no sound, a voice coil (the center of the speaker that produces the audio) may be faulty. See the Speaker replacement guide.
Speakers are broken
The possibility of poor quality with audio may be from the speakers being worn down. Preceding the troubleshooting process, and the issue of no clear sound persists. The Kurio speakers might need to be changed for a new pair. To do so read the Kurio 7S speaker replacement guide to complete this repair.
My Kurio is frozen
Screen is freezing, blank, or not responding to user selections.
Defective MicroSD Card
In most cases, when troubleshooting a tablet that won’t boot, the memory card is often overlooked. When a MicroSD is defective or malfunctioning it can result in a problem like this. If it is currently utilizing a memory card then try to power off and remove that SD card. After the memory card has been removed try to turn it on and see if it will boot up properly. If it does then you have narrowed it down to an issue with the memory card. You can check and see if reinserting the card leads to the same problem. If this is true, replace the SD card with another.
Broken touch screen
As the primary way of interaction between you and your apps, the tablet touchscreen is important. Any damage inflicted - such as knocks to the device, scratches, etc. will degrade the reliability of this. The tiniest bit of dirt can cause a manner of scratches to your display, resulting in problems with the screen’s response. Make sure that your screen isn’t cracked, chipped or damaged. Take off the case or screen protector. Check that your screen is clean. Further troubleshooting can be performed by restarting. The whole device must be switched off and back on again. If the touch screen is completely unresponsive, factory resetting the device may help. Note this will delete all data. If possible backup all important data beforehand. Turn off the tablet. Hold the volume + key, then press and hold the power key while continuing to hold down the Volume (+). Release both buttons when the KD Interactive logo is shown. This will restart the tablet in recovery mode. Once in safe mode, use the power button to select ‘Reboot’. If the 7S persists to get stuck at the loading screen reboot the tablet into recovery mode and follow the following steps: Once in recovery mode, use the Volume (+) to move down the menu until ‘wipe data/factory reset’ is highlighted. Press the power button. Use the Volume (+) to select ‘Yes’ and switch the power button on.
Screen display is bad
Your display may be damaged and will need to follow this Screen Replacement guide to resolve the image issues, after exhausting troubleshoot methods.
Overheating
Overheating can be a common thing as we are constantly using our electronic devices for hours on end without rest. You can feel the Kurio warm up over time as it is being used, or see the screen may be acting slow.
Battery failure
The device may be overheating because of a faulty battery. Before coming to this assumption try to set your tablet to power saver mode. While in power save settings, set your screen for low power, then set the screen to the lowest. Reduce your power consumption by minimizing the number of apps you have running, down to 1 application at a time. Holding down the home button you can see what apps are open, close all except the one you are using. If you are still having issues with the performance then you may have a faulty battery. Check out this guide for battery replacement.
Multiple apps running
One possible cause for overheating under short usage time is that the device has multiple applications running, and little available space left on the memory. If this occurs it can cause the tablet to “work harder” and fill the memory on the tablet which results in overheating of the 7S. One way to combat this is to try freeing up space on the tablet and making sure that it is not running multiple applications at once. However, if this does not work, you may want to try clearing the device.
Motherboard failing
This failure can occur from heating issues, dust, or with age, the motherboard holds all components inside and it is what connects everything for functionality. Now if there is an issue with this it can result in affecting performance. Make sure that you can charge it by checking the battery indicator. Ensure the device is not overheating while charging. If not, your motherboard is working fine. When a motherboard fails or is damaged, you may not be able to boot at all. In some cases, it may work fine but you will experience overheating. As we know, many people use their devices while charging and sometimes they forget to unplug even after a full charge. Using it while connected to a power source does not harm your device. But it will take a long time to charge fully, and you may experience overheating issues. If you’re using a low-quality charger, then you shouldn’t use it while charging. It may put a negative impact on the quality of charge and tends to overheat. To overcome this keep your 7S at normal temperature. Avoid using while charging. Do a soft reset. Be sure to backup all important data before resetting. You are able to reset from the settings menu. By entering your settings window. Select ‘Backup & Reset’. In the menu choose ‘Factory data reset’, then pick ‘reset tablet’, then ‘erase everything’. If the issue continues or is showing signs of overheating. The motherboard may be damaged. Make a note to view the Motherboard replacement guide to assist you with this process!
