JBL Go 3 Battery Draining Fast
The JBL Go 3 experiences quick battery drain, losing charge more frequently than expected no matter the amount of usage. The following factors listed below could be causes. Try to rule out any measures that could be affecting your speaker.
Battery Discharged
If you're using a Type-C USB Charger Cable, look for a solid red light on the speaker, indicating that it’s plugged into a functioning outlet.
- After ensuring that the outlet is receiving power, plug the charger into the JBL Go 3. On the left side of the speaker.
- Let the speaker charge for 2.5 hours to get it fully charged; you can often use the speaker via a cable connection while charging.
If the charger cable is functional, but the battery light does not turn on at all, there is likely a problem with the charging port or the battery itself, potentially leading to a factory reset
Factory Reset
A hard factory reset restores the speaker to its original factory settings, unpairing all previously connected devices, clearing out custom settings, and returning it to its original factory state.
Follow these steps to complete a factory
- Power on the JBL Go 3.
- Locate the volume button (the “+” symbol) and the Bluetooth button on the speaker.
- Hold down both buttons simultaneously for 3-5 seconds.
Faulty Type-C USB Port(s)
A faulty USB port could be the cause of charging issues. Look for any physical damage or dirt inside the port that may be affecting the charging connection.
- Test the speaker with another USB cable and a different charging port on your adapter to rule out problems with the cable or charger. Sometimes, a bad cable or port might cause charging issues that can lead to faster battery drain.
- Plug the speaker into a computer’s USB port to ensure that the charging mechanism works and that the battery is being properly charged.
System Overheating
Insufficient power regulation happens when heat can affect the quality of the voltage and power management circuits, causing the battery to lose power faster. To prevent this:
- Consider using the speaker in an area that isn't in direct sunlight for long periods to help manage temperature and prolong the battery health
- Don’t have the volume up, having the volume up high can cause the speaker to over work the battery causing it to overheat and drain the battery faster
- Consider using the speaker in well ventilated areas, this will prevent the battery
Battery Replacement
The JBL Go 3 is designed as a compact, sealed Bluetooth speaker, meaning its battery is not user-replaceable. However, if you are experiencing severe battery issues, here are your options.
- If your speaker is still under JBL’s warranty, contact JBL customer support for a possible free battery replacement or speaker exchange.
- JBL Go 3 is not typically designed for easy battery removal. If your warranty has expired, consider taking your speaker to an authorized JBL repair center or an experienced electronics repair technician.
