JBL Charge 5 will not Turn on

Your JBL Charge 5 speaker will not power on.

Device is not Charged

If the device is not charged, plug the JBL charger cord into a power outlet. A dot will be visible when the device is charging.

JBL Charge 5 Power Button Not Working

Make sure the device is not in Service Mode. If it is not, Buttons may be blocked by dirt and debris. Tilt the speaker and blow, brush, or polish switch contacts if you can reach them. Please refer to our button repair guide. If the charger cord is dead, replace the cord. The battery inside may no longer recharge due to age, excessive charging, or heavy use. JBL has a Dead Battery

If the JBL speaker will not turn on, it may have a dead battery. Dead batteries are caused by a variety of reasons such as harsh temperature conditions, under or over charging, and more. Please refer to our battery replacement guide here.

JBL has a Faulty Motherboard

If all other options do not apply to your device, your JBL may have a faulty motherboard. If the motherboard has suffered damage, it could potentially cause the device to not work. Please refer to our motherboard replacement guide here.

JBL Charge 5 is Not Charging

Your JBL Charge 5 Speaker will not charge.

Broken Cable/Faulty Charger

If your Charge 5 speaker will not charge the issue may be with the charging cord rather than the speaker itself. This may occur because of improper cord use bending the end of the adaptor severing one or more of the wires inside. Your charger may also have damage to the head or portion that enters the speaker. This issue can be solved by replacing the charger.

Power Outlet May Not Be Energized

The AC or car adapter for JBL Charge 5 may not have appropriate output and the device is not receiving power. Check the receptacle has enough power, reset breakers if tripped, and if the outlet has a light switch that controls it, then be certain the switch is in the ON position, or try another outlet.

Device is in Service Mode

You must connect the device to an external power source, such as an AC charger adapter because your device does not power ON or OFF when in service mode. When plugged into an external source, the speaker powers ON without pressing the Power button and runs on an internal battery. To turn it off, you must unplug the device from an external power source. Only the buttons needed to take the speaker out of Service Mode works on this setting.

Faulty Battery

Your speaker may not be charging because the battery is faulty, either it has lost its ability to be charged over time with regular use or was damaged another way. Regardless, the battery can be easily removed and replaced to solve this issue. Please refer to our battery replacement guide here.

The Speaker is Defective

The Speaker Might be Defective when the JBL Charge 5 is Not Charging. Even with the proper power supply and working battery, the current that gets to the battery may not be appropriate. This can happen when the JBL Charge 5 battery management circuits fail. These systems read the battery status and switch off the charging current when they deem the battery full. Bluetooth Connection Isn’t Working

Your JBL Charge 5 Speaker will not connect to your device through Bluetooth

MotherBoard Malfunction

A factory reset may fix the issue, if too much data is stored at a time a new user will not be able to connect. A reset can be performed by holding the play, and power-up button. Bluetooth Button Failure

The Bluetooth button itself may be damaged, this prevents the pairing sequence.

JBL Charge 5 Sounds Distorted

Your JBL Charge 5 Speaker is producing sounds such as buzzing, muffled audio, or static.

Speaker is on Incorrect Audio Mode

There is a party mode button for the speaker when pressed will connect it to other speakers of the same type within a certain range. This can affect the audio quality of your speaker. All you need to do to turn it off is by turning the speaker off and on again.

Speaker is Blown Out

Button Blocked by Debris

When buttons do not press down, they may have debris such as dust, dirt, or other material that prevent the button from springing into position, or even causing the button to remain stuck in place. Buttons are Worn Down

After time, buttons can get worn down by long-term usage. If this is the case, the buttons must be replaced. Please refer to our button replacement guide here.

Faulty Motherboard
