InFocus IN3114 Troubleshooting

The projector does not show any sign of lighting up.

There might be nothing wrong with the projector, but the connection to the laptop or streaming device is faulty. Try plugging and unplugging the HDMI cord.

If the problem has not been resolved, check the vents, filters, and areas surrounding the lamp and lamp screens for excessive dust. Use compressed air to remove any clumps of dust.

Make sure that the power cord is soundly connected to both the device and the power outlet. If this does not work, check for exposed wiring or fried power boards.

The projector is radiating heat and shutting down unexpectedly or the temperature indicator is on. 

Check to make sure that the projector is in a climate-controlled conditioned location and shut it off for one to two minutes. Reposition the projector to ensure 3” distance between any barrier on front, sides, back, or bottom of the projector. Remove any loose debris in or around the fans before turning back on.

Look on the side of the projector. If the vents look dusty or grimy, turn off the projectors and use a vacuum to remove any dust. This could be clogging the vents and preventing adequate airflow.

If you cannot feel airflow through the exhaust vent, the fans themselves may be broken. Power the device on and check the exhaust vent. If there isn't any airflow, replace the fan.

The projected image is inverted vertically.

Navigate to the “Menu Tab”. Using the arrow keys, move to the “Basic Menu”. Use the arrow keys to highlight “Ceiling Mount” and turn “On” or “Off” depending on if the projector is being mounted to the ceiling or not.

While the projector is running, the fan makes an excessively loud noise.

Open up the projector to expose each of the fans. Remove all but one of the fans in order to test each fan in an isolated manner. The fan with the problem is likely stiff or feels rough when rotating, so begin by testing any fans that have these characteristics. If none of the fans seem to make any noise check the color wheel motor.

After checking each of the fan motors, inspect the color wheel drive motor for any issues. By removing the other fans, one can easily isolate the color wheel to detect for loud noise.

The projector displays the expected image, but with white spots scattered throughout

There is a possibility that the color wheel is defective, you may want to inspect it while the projector is off. If you don't see any damage, try removing any dust or debris that may be on the color wheel. If the color wheel is damaged, it may also cause the image to be distorted.

It is sometimes as simple as unplugging a cable and plugging it back in to make sure all of the wires are tightly connected to the projector and device you are using to project from.
