Battery Drains too Quickly
The phone does not power on or the battery drains after minimal use.
Faulty Battery
If the device only powers on when connected to its charger, or the device drains in less than four hours of heavy use the battery is faulty and will require replacement. Use this guide to replace the battery.
Device Overheats
The device randomly shuts off or becomes very hot during use.
Dust in the Device
Electronics can overheat when dust clogs up ports and other areas that should be open in order to allow heat to escape. To fix this open the device and use a compressed air duster to remove any visible dust on the interior of the device.
Faulty Battery
If the battery itself is hot and is heating up the rest of the device it may have a short between its positive and negative ends. Replace the battery using this guide.
Device Audio is Distorted
Sounds from the device are difficult to hear or understand
Faulty Headphones
The headphones you are using might be faulty. Check for frayed wires or damaged ear buds. Use electrical tape to cover and reconnect any loose wires. If the issue persists try using a different pair of headphones.
Faulty Speakers
If the audio through the speakers sounds distorted the speakers might be obstructed or faulty. Remove any visible dust or debris from the speakers. If the distorted audio persists the speakers may be faulty and should be replaced using this guide.
Faulty Headphone Jack
If the audio is only distorted when listening to the device through headphones then the audio jack or the headphones themselves may be faulty. Ensure that the audio jack is clear of dust and debris. Then try re inserting the headphones. If distortion persists, the audio jack may be faulty and should be replaced.
The Device is not Charging Properly
The device charges slowly or not at all
Faulty Charger
If the device is powered on when not connected to the charger, but wont charge when connected the problem may be the charger. First try charging from a different outlet or power source. If that doesn't work try using the charger to charge another compatible device if possible. If the problem still persists the charger itself may be faulty and should be replaced.
Faulty Battery
If the device only powers on when connected to the charger the battery is faulty and should be replaced using this guide.
Faulty Charging Port
If the device battery is holding charge, and the charger is capable of charging other devices, then the HTC Amaze’s charging port might be the issue. First insure that the charging port is unobstructed and clear of all debris. If the device still does not charge consider replacing the charging port.
Camera Doesn't Work
The phone camera keeps malfunctioning or shows a black screen
Software Error
If there seems to be no physical damage, try one these steps first:
- Power the device off and back on
- Remove the battery and put it back in using this guide
- Open the device in safe mode, this will cause it to run without 3rd party applications that may be causing the problem. To put the device in safe mode remove and reinsert the battery. Then hold down the volume down key and press the power button briefly until three android images are visible and release the volume down key.
Front Facing Camera is Damaged
If the steps given above do not work, consider a front camera replacement using this guide.
Rear Facing Camera is Damaged
If the steps given above do not work, consider a rear facing camera replacement.
Distorted or Broken Display
Device screen is cracked or images are distorted
Display is Cracked
Consider replacing the Display.
Display is Distorted
If the screen is not cracked and there are no obvious signs of physical damage like water under the screen, then it may be a software issue. First ensure that your device is running at the correct resolution settings by resetting them to default. If the issue persists try one of the following steps:
- Power the device off and back on
- Remove the battery and put it back in using this guide
- Open the device in safe mode, this will cause it to run without 3rd party applications that may be causing the problem. To put the device in safe mode remove and reinsert the battery. Then hold down the volume down key and press the power button briefly until three android images are visible.
If none of the above steps helped it may be a hardware issue, consider replacing the display.
Water Damage to the Device
In case of water damage, refrain from trying to switch on the device and if the device is switched on immediately switch it off in order to stop any further damage. Then take the following steps to fix the damage:
Minor Damage
- Do not switch the device on.
- Use the Battery replacement guide here to remove the battery
- Remove the SIM card and the Micro SD card.
- Do not blow on the device to dry it up as it may send the water into the internal components and do further damage.
- Thoroughly wipe down the device and use a vacuum cleaner on low setting to suck out the water.
- Put it in a zip lock bag with rice for 24 hours.
Motherboard is Damaged
If the device does not turn on after trying the steps given above, the motherboard might be damaged.Use the motherboard replacement guide here to replace the motherboard.
