Computer Won’t Turn On
The computer doesn’t appear to be powering on or showing any response.
Faulty Charger
Make sure the charger is working by checking to see if the plug is completely in the outlet and connected to the charging port. If the light isn’t on, then you have a faulty charger so try purchasing a new one.
Faulty Battery
If the light on your battery is faulty and you must replace it, consider using our guide on replacing the battery.
Audio Distortion
You are having issues getting audio to properly play on the computer.
Faulty Driver
Locate the sound menu of the computer and then makes sure your audio device is set as default by checking the Speaker Properties menu's Enhancements' tab.
-Check to see if nothing is blocking the speaker holes.
Headphone Jack is Loose
Check to make sure your headphones are completely plugged in or make sure there is nothing inside the port that is keep the plug from making a complete connection.
Faulty Speakers
If you are having lots of trouble with the sound the speakers may be blown and need to be replaced. This replacement guide will help you with the speakers.
Faulty Audio Board
If the speakers aren’t blown then the audio board may be faulty and need to be replaced which is shown in our Audio Board Replacement Guide.
Keyboard or Keys not responding
The keyboard won’t respond when you are typing, or the keys appear to be missing or stuck.
Missing Keys
If any of the keys on your keyboard are missing, replace the missing keys.
Keys are Stuck
When using the keyboard if you notice that you are attempting to press on the keys, and they are not going down there maybe something below it that’s keeping it up. Try to remove the key and dislodge whatever’s underneath.
Faulty Keyboard Docking Port
If the keyboard doesn’t respond at all then you can try replacing the docking port.
Video Distortion
The video displayed on the laptop appears to be blurry, discolored, or distorted in any way.
Wrong Resolution
The computer’s resolution may be on the wrong setting. In order to fix this, you must go to the Display settings. Then select “Screen Resolution” and make sure the setting is at 1920 x 1080 which is the ideal setting for HP Envy X2-15-C001Dx.
Video Driver is out of Date
The most probable cause for a blurry, discolored or distorted screen is an outdated video driver. You can update the video driver by going to the HP website and downloading the proper driver based on the operating system.
Touch Screen Broken
You have dropped or hit your screen in a way in which it has chipped cracked or fractured.
Screen is Cracked or Broken
If the screen is cracked or broken, your only option will be to replace it.
Update your Video Drivers
If the screen does not have any cracks or visible problems, then you will have to do a driver update. This is done by clicking the windows button in the bottom left of your desktop. Then you will go to settings and then click on the Update and Security icon. From here you will see a big title saying Windows Update with an option to check for updates. You should click on the check for updates icon and follow the instructions from there. Your computer may or may not need to do a restart after for the changes to apply. There will also be a tab that says, “View optional updates” and that may also contain the solution to your problem. You can click on that tab and install those updates as well as the update you have already done.
Computer Can’t Connect to WIFI
While using your device, your connection to the WIFI either is very slow or it disconnects altogether.
WIFI Card Driver Needs Update
To do this, you will need to go to your device manager in your windows settings. To do this you can click the windows icon in the bottom left and click settings. If you have a search setting bar, you can type “device manager” in and click on the app that appears. If you do not you will have to click on your file explorer, which looks like a yellow folder with a blue mark on it. You will then have to hover over the arrow on the search bar on the top of the file explorer and click “control panel”. From here you can click on “hardware and sound” and the click “device manager”. From here you will need to locate your “network adapters” tab and click on it to reveal your WIFI card (as well as other related things). Now all you need to do is right click on each item that is in the network adapters category and click update drivers. Then you just need to click on the “search automatically” button. Just rinse and repeat this process until you get through all the network adapters.
Faulty WIFI Card
