Computer Freezes
Display freezes and nothing moves on screen
Faulty Display
Try turning laptop on and off if this doesn't work than try cleaning your ram ,and if that step doesn't work then try rebooting the laptop
Faulty Keyboard and touchpad
Try moving the mouse on your trackpad if theres no response then. Try pressing Num Lock button on , and if that doesn't that work press ctrl+alt+delete
Hardware Issue
A faulty hardware can cause a computer to freeze if you installed a new one temporarily remove to see if that is the issue. If that's not the issue then temporarily remove pre-existing ones to see what the cause is.
Sound Doesn't Work
No sound can be heard from speakers.
Faulty Speakers
Test the speakers. If other speakers or headphones work, then the speakers might be faulty.
Troubleshooting tool needs to be run
- In Windows, type Find and Fix into Search
- Select Find and fix audio playback problems or Find and fix audio recording problems
- Select the device to troubleshoot
- Wait for troubleshooter to detect problems and make changes
- When troubleshooter is done, if any recommended action is displayed, apply the fix
Speakers are not the default device
- In Windows, type Sounds into Search, select Change system sounds
- In the sound window, on the playback tab, select your playback device, then click the set default button.
- Select configure
- Click speaker setup in Audio Channels
- Click test
- If sound is heard, you are finished
- If sound is not heard, click next and complete speaker setup
Audio driver needs updating
- In Windows, search for and open Device Manager
- Double-click Sound, video and game controllers
- Right-click the name of the audio device listed under Sound, video and game controllers
- Select update driver software
- Click Search automatically for updated driver software
- Windows checks for and installs updated drivers
- If a window opens asking you to restart your computer, restart the computer
- Test the sound
Audio problems need troubleshooting
- Search for and open Device Manager
- Double-click Sound, video and game controllers
- Do the following, depending on the problem
- If a sound is listed with a down arrow, the device is disabled. Right-click the sound device name and select Enable to re-enable the device
- If a sound device is listed, right-click the device name and select Properties to view more helpful troubleshooting information in the Device Status window. If Device Status shows the device is working correctly, the problem is probably related to sound settings, the speakers, or the cables.
Black Screen
Computer starts but screen remains black
Reset the computer
Resetting the computer can resolve many issues that cause a blank screen. Use the steps in HP support
Connect to different monitor to test display
To test the display, attach an external monitor by using HDMI, VGA or DVI and restart the computer. Testing with an external display is helpful if the notebook display is black but you can hear sounds; such as fans, spinning drives, or beep tones that indicate the computer is operating.
Drain electrical power
Restart the computer or let its battery to run out. Check afterwards if the problem has been solved
Won't Connect to WiFi
Cannot connect to the internet or connection periodically drops
Troubleshooting Needs to be Run
Right click the wifi connection icon in the notification area then press Troubleshoot problems. The automatic troubleshooting process will begin. Once the process is complete, information should pop up telling you the necessary steps to resolve the problem.
Router and/ or Modem Issues
If these solutions don’t work, you may have a problem with your router or modem. Turn off your HP, then turn off your router and/or modem. Wait 30 seconds then turn your router/ modem back on along with your HP. Try to reconnect to the wifi. If this does not work, then there may be some issues with your service provider.
