Computer Will Not Power On
The device is unresponsive with no signs of powering up.
Device Needs to be Charged
It is possible your device will not respond if the battery life is too low. Connect your power adapter to an outlet and allow the device to charge for a few minutes before turning on the Chromebook again.
Faulty Power Adapter
Make sure that there is no damage to your power adapter. Check to make sure that the power adapter is properly connected to your device and that the charge light is on. If the light is not on and the adapter is properly connected, then the adapter may be faulty. A new power adapter is required.
Faulty Battery
If the laptop only powers on when the adapter is plugged in, regardless of the charging time, then the battery is faulty. You can get help replacing the battery with this guide.
Computer Will Not Boot/Frequent Crashes
The device will not load the Operating System and instead takes you to an error message, or your device crashes frequently.
Not Enough RAM
If your computer frequently crashes during normal operation, crashes during memory-intensive tasks, has slowed in operation significantly, or will not boot up, you likely have bad RAM or do not have enough RAM. Use this guide to help replace the RAM.
eMMC Storage Errors
The eMMC module functions as the hard drive for your Chromebook. If your device is showing signs of sluggish performance, has an increase in corrupted files, or crashes frequently, your eMMC may be faulty. You can use this guide for help changing the eMMC module
I/O Board Not Working
The laptop doesn’t connect to external devices when plugged in.
The I/O Ports are Dirty
Use a light to look into the I/O ports on the laptop and check for dirt that may be interfering. If there is any, use a small, non-metal object to remove the debris.
The I/O Ports are Bent
Use a light to look into the I/O port and check to see if any of the receptacles are bent. Minor damage can be repaired by using a thin tool to bend these areas back into place gently.
Faulty I/O ports

Chromebook Will Not Connect to Wi-Fi
The device will not connect to internet-based applications.
Wi-Fi is Not Enabled
If the Wi-Fi setting is not enabled, then the Chromebook will not be allowed to connect to the internet. Go into your settings and enable the Wi-Fi mode and try to connect to your service provider.
Router and / or Modem Issues
Problems with internet connection may not be related to the hardware inside the computer. Starting with the basics turn off your modem and or router and give it time to reset. After 60 seconds turn the router and or modem back on and try to reconnect to the internet. If the internet connection is still unavailable, then contact your service provider.
Audio Problems with Wired Connection
Device audio is distorted or not working properly.
Audio is not Working on any Website/Application
If audio isn’t working on any web browser/application, it is possible that your audio has been muted in the mixer settings. With your web browser open, click the volume icon in the notification tray and select “Mixer” to adjust the audio volumes of all open applications.
Audio Port is Dirty
Audio jack may be filled with dust and debris causing an insecure connection. Acquire a cotton swab and apply rubbing alcohol to the end of the swab and gently clean debris out of port.
Audio Port is Faulty
If your audio still doesn’t work after cleaning the port and changing your settings your audio jack may need to be replaced.
Broken Screen
The screen of the device is cracked or damaged.
