If your HP Chromebook 14a-na0031wm does not charge when plugged in, follow this page for possible solutions.
Faulty Charger
- The charger itself may be faulty, follow steps to check if it is working correctly.
- Ensure that the charger cable/power adapter is working properly by testing it on another device, or use a different charger with your Chromebook
- Check that the charger is securely connected to a reliable power outlet. Test the power outlet with another device to check that it is working.
- Chromebooks use a USB-C power adapter. Use the charger that came with the device or an approved replacement
Damaged Charging Port
- Failure to charge could stem from a damaged or dirty charging port.
- Check that the charging port does not have dirt or debris that is blocking the charging cable. Use a small burst of air or a soft bristled brush to gently clean the charging port. Do not attempt to remove debris with hard objects as that can damage the charging port further.
- Check that the charging port is not damaged. If the charging cable is loose or does not fit properly, then the charging port may need repairing
Software Glitch
- Software glitches could be preventing the Chromebook from accepting charge.
- First try a hard reset. Unplug the charger and press and hold the refresh key, while holding the refresh key tap the power button. Release the refresh key when the chromebook restarts.
- If this does not resolve issues you may want to try a powerwash, however this will erase all local files on the Chromebook, so any files you do not want to lose must be uploaded to an external hard drive. This should be done as a last resort.
- To initiate a powerwash hold CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+R, then select restart and click powerwash. You will then need to sign back in.
Failing Battery

- Go to Settings, About ChromeOS, and click Check for Updates.
- If an update is available, it will download automatically.
- Restart Chromebook after update.
Overheating
