If your HP 14-dq0052dx does not power on, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Battery Issues
The simplest cause is the device simply isn’t charged. If the laptop will not power on unless connected to the charger, the battery has likely reached the end of it’s life and should be replaced. Remove the back cover of the laptop and find the battery, if it appears swollen or puffy, the battery needs to be replaced and should be handled very carefully.
Many chargers have a light to indicate power is flowing. If the charger’s light is on but not the device's charging light, the problem is most likely the port, battery, or motherboard. If your charger doesn't have a light, test the charger with another device or a multimeter if you have one.
Try to wiggle the charger around, if the laptop’s charging light comes on only in a certain position, the port needs to be replaced. If not, try cleaning out the charging port, if it still does not charge, the port may need to be replaced.
Only if you rule out everything else should you attempt to replace the motherboard.
Faulty Power Button
- If you can hear your computer is on, but you have no function ability, one thing you can do is a hard reset which includes holding the power button for 15 seconds. After this try turning the computer back on
- If the power button is stuck, cleaning may be necessary
- Open the computer and Reseat the Button Mechanism Sometimes, the button may need to be re-aligned or gently nudged back into place.
- Remove the Battery and Use AC Power, plugging in the AC charger without a battery can force the laptop to power on automatically. If the computer works like this it could be a button issue
Frozen Screen
There are a few different issues that can come up when dealing with a frozen screen.
- First, try hard rebooting your computer. Hold the power button down for ten seconds, wait, then try and reboot the device. See if that affects anything.
- Check to see if the computer itself is functioning, or if it’s just the screen. That can be done by rebooting your computer and looking for any lights that might start up. That would be maybe a muted sound light, or a power light on your button.
- The problem might not just be the screen. If the screen is still functioning, it could be your RAM, or some other deeper hardware issue.
Faulty or Broken Ram
RAM can be a rare problem some may face when their Hp is not turning on. The ram can become broken or un-operational after excessive heat when running a system heavy program or multiple programs at a single time, or by a drop which can break or bend it. If the light indicator shows that the computer is turned on but nothing is being shown on the screen then the ram might be the problem.
- To fix this you need to unscrew the back of your computer and find the ram. Then take it out and replace it with a new stick of ram. Reassemble your computer and try turning it on.
Faulty Charging Port
With normal wear and tear the charging port can become faulty. This is normal and fixable, and the best way to tell if this is the issue is to simply try plugging it in.
- At first try another charger
- Then try cleaning the port out, freeing of any debris
- If all else fails replacement of the port may be necessary
