Touchscreen is unresponsive
You touch the screen and it does not work.
Screen is not properly calibrated
If the screen is not responding properly, recalibration could be needed. To recalibrate the screen go to the menu screen and hit “settings”. Once in the settings menu touch “Display” and then “Recalibrate”. Follow the on-screen prompts to recalibrate your device.
Defective touchscreen
If the screen is not responding from the touch of your hand or a stylus, then the problem will most likely be with the actual screen and a replacement may be needed.
No Audio or Distorted Audio
You cannot hear anything or it sounds weird.
Malfunctioning Speaker
First make sure the volume is raised to an appropriate level and that the device is not muted. If the volume is not the case, then the speaker may be faulty and will need to be replaced.
The device is not acquiring GPS signals
Your device is not receiving signals from GPS satellites.
If the device has just booted, give up to 3-5 minutes to allow the GPS to obtain a signal.
Satellite interference
The device needs a good view of the sky to work. To ensure this, mount the GPS to the windshield or dashboard. Your vehicle may have a protective coating on its windshield or electronic devices which interfere with the device receiving signal. Take the GPS outside of the vehicle with clear view of the sky for 3-5 minutes, if signal is lost upon entering the vehicle your device may need an external antenna in order to acquire signal.
The device is not charging/loses power very quickly
Faulty Adapter
Ensure that the adapter is plugged correctly to the outlet and the device and that the adapter light is on. If the adapter light is on but the device is not being charged, then connect the GPS via USB to your computer and see if it begins to charge. If your adapter light is not on, or your device begins to charge through USB only, your adapter is broken and will need to be replaced.
Faulty Battery
If the GPS only powers up when the adapter is plugged in and regardless of charging time does not maintain the charge, then the battery is faulty and will need to be replaced.
The Bluetooth signal is not being recognized
''The Bluetooth is not working on the GPS"
First make sure that both the Bluetooth is enabled on BOTH your phone and on the device. Bluetooth should automatically be enabled on your device, if it is not use the following steps to enable Bluetooth: Touch settings, then Bluetooth. If there is not a check-mark, check the box next to Bluetooth. Bluetooth is now enabled on your GPS.
GPS and phone are not paired
Before you begin pairing your Bluetooth-enabled GPS device with your cell phone, set your phone to Find Me/Discoverable Mode.
To pair and connect the phone with the device: Touch settings, Bluetooth and then touch search for devices. Touch the name of the desired phone from the list of compatible Bluetooth devices in the area, hit OK and enter the passkey displayed if prompted. A message should display that the Garmin device successfully paired with the phone. The two devices will now automatically connect when they are in range of each other.
GPS is paired with another device
Clearing the pairing history on the automotive device and the phone will establish a new Bluetooth session between the devices. Touch "Settings" then "Bluetooth" and touch your phone’s name. Scroll down and touch unpair device and click yes to confirm. Once pairing has been cleared, try to connect your devices.
Outdated software
Outdated software could be an issue, so verify that the GPS is running the latest software version and that the Bluetooth firmware is up-to-date. It is recommended for your mobile phone to have the latest software as well.
Download Garmin Express onto your personal computer at http://www.garmin.com/express. Install Garmin Express and after the installation is complete, connect your Garmin device and follow the onscreen prompts.
Garmin Express will need to verify and update your device's software as needed.
