Touch Screen is Unresponsive

The Genesis 2 tablet does not respond to touch and the display remains the same.

Screen is dirty

A dirty screen can block the infrared LED lights used to help the touchscreen function properly. Using a soft cloth and an electronic screen cleaner, clean the tablet’s screen to ensure there is no grime or debris blocking the sensors.

Screen protector is disrupting touch screen response

A screen protector that is worn, too thick, or not made for the device could interfere with the infrared LED lights used to help the touchscreen function properly. Either replace the protector with a new one designed for the Genesis 2 tablet or remove the protector completely.

Tablet battery is low

A low battery can cause the tablet’s touchscreen or operating system to become unresponsive. The Genesis 2 tablet uses a micro USB charger, which is universal for many different devices. Simply plug the device in for a few hours to provide it with enough battery to properly function again.

System requires reboot

Sometimes a device may just need a restart to resume functioning properly. Simply hold down the lock button on the top of the device for about 8 seconds to restart the Genesis 2.

Screen is broken/cracked

A broken or cracked screen can interfere with the color of the graphics and functioning of the touchscreen. If this is the case, the screen may need to be replaced.

Battery Will Not Charge

The Genesis 2 battery will not charge or will not hold a charge.

Faulty power adapter

Check to make sure the power adapter is plugged in. If it is, make sure the light on the adapter is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.

Faulty battery

If the adapter is plugged in, and the light on the adapter is on, make sure the adapter is connected to the tablet. If the tablet only powers on when the device is plugged in, regardless of charging time, then the battery is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Faulty charging port

If the power adapter will not connect to the tablet or will not stay plugged in, or if the tablet is not charging or turning on when plugged in, then the charging port may be faulty or damaged.

Genesis 2 Will Not Turn On or Off

The Genesis 2 tablet is unresponsive or will not turn on.

System requires restart

Sometimes a device may just need a restart to resume functioning properly. Simply hold down the lock button on the top of the device for about 8 seconds to restart the Genesis 2.

Faulty power button

It is possible that the power button on the Genesis 2 tablet has been damaged and will not register pressure in order to unlock the tablet or turn it on and off. If this is the case, the power button may need to be replaced.

Hard drive error

Tablets have hard drives, just like computers. If a hard drive crashes, it will cause the tablet to function improperly or to not function at all, and the hard drive will need to be replaced.

Screen is Too Dark

The Genesis 2 screen is too dark and does not respond to a change in lighting.

Light sensor is blocked

On Android tablets, there is a tiny light sensor at the top of the screen. If the sensor becomes blocked, it will not be able to pick up the ambient lighting of the room which may make the screen darker than what is needed. Be sure your hand or another object is not blocking the sensor. This could include any screen protectors, as some may still interfere with the sensor.

Settings require adjusting

Android tablets have several lighting settings. It is possible that the settings need to be adjusted to the user’s preferences.

Audio Port is Not Functioning

The Genesis 2 is producing little, distorted, or no sound from the device when headphones are plugged into the audio port.

Loose headphone jack

Test audio through the tablet’s speakers, then test it using headphones. If there are only audio issues when headphones are plugged in, then the audio jack or headphones themselves may be faulty. Make sure the audio jack is fully plugged into the device.

Dirty audio port

Dust, dirt, and other particles and grime can build up in the tablet’s audio port, especially from frequent use. To clean out the audio port, cut off the end of a cotton swab so only a tiny part of the cotton remains. Dip the end in a small amount of rubbing alcohol and gently swirl it around the inside of the audio port to clean out any debris. Be sure the cotton swab is only damp, not dripping with rubbing alcohol, or else this can permanently damage the port. Once the port is clean, let dry for a few minutes before using.

Overheating

The Genesis 2 tablet may overheat to the point of turning the device off, accelerating the battery use of the device, or freezing the screen of the device.

Faulty battery

Completely drain the battery by allowing the device to run. Once the battery is dead, charge it completely and if there is noticeable accelerated battery use contact the original manufacturing company for a replacement battery.

Too many apps open

The Genesis 2 will sometimes overheat if there are an excessive amount of apps open. Hold down the the home button on the tablet until a menu appears. Swipe horizontally to close out the apps.

Faulty capacitor

If it is not too many apps running or the battery, then it may be a faulty capacitor. Firstly, acquire a new capacitor, a soldering iron, and a small screwdriver. Next, open up the device using the small screwdriver. Then use the soldering iron to remove the solder around the old capacitor. Extract the capacitor from the circuit board. Then place the new capacitors in the circuit board and put the solder into place. Put the device back together and reboot the tablet.
