If the buttons on your Doss E-GO II are unresponsive, follow this guide for solutions.
Physical Damage to Buttons
If there is physical damage to the speaker it can cause the buttons to not be responsive. This can happen by the user not handling the device properly, rough packaging or handling, or being damaged when in a manufacturing facility.
Debris Trapped Under Buttons
Over time dirt and debris can get trapped under the buttons causing them to be unresponsive or delayed. Use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to gently remove small dirt build-up. Users can use compressed air dusters for larger debris to loosen debris trapped and go back to the cotton swab. This should help clean the area and housing allowing buttons to become clickable.
Broken or Weak Spring
It depends on whether it's broken or bent. If the spring is bent you can fix it with some manipulation while a severe bend or a break may necessitate a replacement. To fix the bent spring, you can use a Torch. At first, isolate the damaged coil from the rest of the spring. A putty knife helps you gently separate the affected coil to ensure only the bent area is exposed. Then heat the isolated coil with a Bernzomatic TS8000 torch until it turns cherry red. Use pliers to bend the hot coil back into the shape and let the spring cool naturally to regain its strength.
Dead Battery
The battery life of this device has a life capacity of up to 12 hours and takes 3 hours to fully charge. If the buttons are not working to turn it on it could be simply because it just needs a recharge. Make sure that you are plugging the device into an outlet that is properly working and having a Type C charger and charging it for about 15 minutes to test and see if this can help to understand if the battery is dead or the problem is caused by the buttons physically not working.
Lost Connection
Debris could build up and block the connection causing users to press down harder, weakening the spring connection. Extreme handling and misuse could have caused things to become loose and unresponsive when users press down buttons. Removing button covers tighten any screws that are loose first to see if that fixes the issue, but the case is back together and that should solve the issue. If this does not solve the problem check the cable connections that cables are connecting with the circuit board, if loose or not connected reconnect the cables to their proper locations. Check battery health and physical appearance when the battery swells this can cause buttons to be stuck.
Buttons Need to Be Replaced
If there is no physical damage to the device or buttons and is clean from debris with no loose wiring or springs and it is charged to the full capacity it may just need new buttons. The buttons could just be old and worn down to the point where they do not want to properly work. If the buttons themselves need to be replaced the speaker will need to be taken apart. You will start by ordering the correct buttons for the speaker and having them available with you. Then loosen and take out any screws and remove any covering that is attached to the screws that is used for outside protection. Then you will detach the buttons from any wiring and have new ones set aside to be placed where the old ones once were. This should then fix the issue once the new buttons are attached and everything is screwed back into place.
