Dell Latitude E5520 Battery Not Holding Charge
When you believe your Dell Latitude E5520 should be holding a charge perfectly but it does not. Follow these steps to get your laptop back to new condition.
Defective Charging Cables/Port
Verify that the charging port can receive power.
- Check the device’s power port for lint/debris and use compressed air if it needs to be cleaned.
- Inspect the entire charging cable for damage that could cause the device to not receive power.
- Verify that there aren’t any bent pins that would prevent a clean connection to the charger.
Damaged/Faulty Battery
No matter what, batteries will degrade over time which causes performance issues. If your laptop’s battery is noticeably decreasing and cannot hold a charge, it is likely that your battery is reaching the end of its life which prevents it from running smoothly.
- Review instructions and replace battery
Declining Battery Life
You can check the internal battery health for any problems concerning your battery
- First restart your computer and repeatedly press the F2 key at the Dell logo to enter BIOS mode. Next navigate to the general section, then select battery information.
If the battery’s health is poor and at the end of its usable time, it might be time to consider replacing the battery.
Computer Running Slow Overall
Resetting your laptop could possibly flush away the problem. To do to this, here are the steps
* Try shutting down the laptop completely
* Disconnect the AC adapter and remove battery from the back of the laptop
- Hold the power button for approximately 20 seconds
- Then put the batter back into the laptop and reconnect the AC adapter
- Now you can restart the computer and see if it holds any charge
Faulty Outlet
The problem could possibly be that you're not getting power from your source.
- Either plug another device into the same outlet to insure it is working, or plug your charger into a different outlet
