RAM Failure
If your Dell Latitude 5490 fails to start-up due to a RAM issue, then the power button LED will blink amber twice, followed by three to five white blinks. If you encounter this issue, your RAM may be missing, improperly seated, or damaged and likely needs maintenance.
This procedure is relatively quick and is described here: (placeholder to future repair guide). This procedure can be used to install more RAM, replace existing RAM, or just reseat existing RAM.
SSD or Hard Drive Failure
If your Dell Latitude 5490 fails to start-up due to a storage issue, then you will get on on-screen message. These messages include, but are not limited to, the following:
- "No Boot Drive Found"
- "C: Drive is Not Responding"
- "Dell Diagnostics Error Code 2000-0142"
If you encounter any of these issues, you should back up your data and replace your SSD or hard drive as this indicates a drive failure.
A guide to installing or replacing your storage can be found here: (placeholder to future repair guide).
