Dell Latitude 5320 2-in-1 Has Unresponsive Keys
Some or all of your keys on your Dell Latitude 5320 2-in-1 do not respond when pressed. Follow these steps to identify and solve these problems.
Dirt and Debris Underneath The Keys
Dust, crumbs, and other build-up under the keys can prevent them from working properly. To fix this issue, first turn off the device and disconnect from any external power sources or cords. Next, gently turn the device upside down and lightly tap to break loose any debris. Gently turn the device back around to the upright position. Use compressed air to blow remaining debris out from under the keys. Take a soft brush or cotton swab to hard-to-reach areas to clean any remaining dirt.
Tablet Mode Enabled
If the laptop is in “tablet mode,” the physical keyboard is detached and will be unresponsive; switch it back to “laptop mode” to connect the keyboard to the screen. This can be manually done in Windows 10 in the Action Center located on the taskbar. The first step is to select the “Action Center” icon in the taskbar. Next, select the “Table Mode” tile. If the “Tablet Mode” is not visible, select “Expand” above the tiles. If the tile is highlighted and says “On”, this means “Tablet Mode” is turned on. If the title is not highlighted and says “Off”, it means that the “Tablet Mode” is turned off.
Windows 11 does not have the option to manually turn the “Tablet Mode” on or off. Windows 11 automatically enables the “Tablet Mode” when the keyboard is detached from the device or when the device is converted into “Tablet Mode”. “Tablet Mode” is automatically disabled when the keyboard is attached to the device or when the device is converted into a laptop.
Hardware or Keyboard Connection Issues
Loose internal connections or damaged components inside the device can cause the keyboard to stop working. Watch the manufacturer's informative video before considering replacing the keyboard unit.
