Dell Latitude 3310 Poor Battery Life
The Dell Latitude 3310 runs out of battery quickly when unplugged and has to be charged more often.
AC Adapter Functionality
The AC adapter shouldn’t be damaged or broken to ensure that the battery is being charged correctly. If the AC adapter (charger) is in good condition, then verify that the laptop can recognize it.
A damaged or unrecognized adapter will result in the laptop running only on battery power, even when plugged in. This will result in faster battery deterioration and shorter overall battery life.
First, restart the laptop. When the Dell logo appears, press F2 several times until you see the settings options. Then, verify the AC adapter type in the BIOS option.
- If the type is none, verify that it is correctly plugged into the laptop and the wall outlet.
- If the type is unknown, then it means that the AC adapter is damaged somehow.
If none of these methods works, try to use another AC adapter and cable power from another laptop.
Hardware Issues
Try charging the battery when the laptop is off. There are too many settings on the operating system when the laptop is running. Charging it when off helps isolate any hardware-related issues.
It is also recommended to charge the battery in BIOS mode
- Restart the computer.
- Press F2 to enter the BIOS system. Let the battery charge for some time.
- Verify that the battery has increased.
Battery Health Status
If your laptop is losing power really fast, even when fully charged, the battery might be deteriorating.
Lithium-ion batteries degrade their capacity over time, meaning they take less charge and discharge at a faster rate. By checking the battery status, it can be determined if the system is operating correctly or if the battery needs replacement.
- First, power on the laptop and wait until you see the Dell logo on the screen.
- When you see the Dell logo, press F2 to open the BIOS.
- Go to the advanced tab and on the button, there is the information about the battery.
- If the battery is working correctly, it should say “Battery health: normal”
If that is not the case, then a battery replacement is necessary.
