Can not Boot into Operating System (OS)
System does not boot into its OS.
Boot into Safe Mode
Should you be unable to both turn on your Dell Inspiron E1505 and have the operating system boot then you will have to boot your device in safe mode. In order to boot your device in safe mode you must power on your device while pressing the F8 key multiple times. Upon entering safe mode you will be able to further diagnose your computer’s issues without the system crashing due to the previous problem. One common cause of boot failures is a corrupted program installation which can be resolved by uninstalling the corrupted program. Once you’ve finished your task and wish to exit safe mode all you have to do is power down the machine via the shutdown button within your device. Do not use the device’s physical power button to accomplish this task as it may lead to further issues.
Corrupt OS Install
Should the operating system fail to boot or crash during a boot there is a chance your boot files may be corrupted. If possible, boot file corruption can be verified by booting from an alternative source such as a USB device, SD card or CD. In order to resolve this issue you must either boot the system recovery or reinstall the operating system.
Battery will not hold a charge
Battery runs out of charge quickly or does not charge at all.
Faulty Battery
The typical lifetime of a laptop’s battery is between 1 to 3 years depending on usage. As a battery is used and time progresses it’s ability to hold a charge diminishes. A battery unable to hold a charge will cause a laptop to not function unless it’s plugged into an outlet. In order to restore the mobility of your laptop you will need to replace the battery with a new one.
Faulty A/C Power Cord
It’s possible that your Dell Inspiron E1505’s A/C power adapter or one of its cables or connectors has failed. In order to test and determine if this is the issue plug the power adapter into a known-working power outlet and ensure that the power adapter’s cables are firmly connected on all ends. Next try using the power adapter with another compatible laptop. If the compatible laptop reports that it is charging there may be an issue with either your computer’s power port or motherboard.
Blue Screen Appears and Restarts the Computer
When the PC is turned on a blue screen appears.
Check the Action Center
If you experience a blue screen when using your Dell Inspiron E1505, you can open the ‘’’Action Center’’’ and check for solutions. Windows will analyze the blue screen and other types of errors your computer has experienced in the past before giving you information if any about fixing the problem. You can get to the ‘’’Action Center’’’ by clicking on the ‘’’Start button’’’, this can be located at the bottom-left corner of your screen. After doing so a menu should appear, in this menu click on ‘’’Control Panel’’’, in doing this a new window will be displayed. The first item listed in the ‘’’Control Panel’’’ should be ‘’’System and Security’’’, click on this link and the link for the ‘’’Action Center’’’ will appear as the first one.
Boot Into Safe Mode
Should your Dell Inspiron E1505 only be able to display a blue screen, you may have to boot your device in safe mode.
Corrupted Hard Drive
Can not turn on the computer or it turns on and gives a corrupt hard drive error.
If the operating system fails to boot because due to a disk read error, the hard drive may be faulty and or corrupted. To resolve this issue take a moment to clean the hard drive connector pins and socket with an appropriate lens cleaning brush. Next listen for noises emanating from the hard drive. If the drive produces scratching or whining noises it may be faulty. If you’re able to attempt to verify this by booting with an operating system on an alternative media source, such as a USB hard drive, USB thumb drive, or SD card. If you’ve verified that the hard drive is faulty or it still fails to work replacing the hard drive will be necessary.
Optical Drive not Working
Optical drive does not read or write CDs.
Damaged/Dirty CD
It is possible that the CD or DVD that you are entering into the optical drive is damaged or dirty. Before inserting any CD or DVD be sure that it is free of debris. If the disk isn’t clean you can take a cloth to the surface and wipe it clean. Alternatively the disk might be damaged in the form of scratches.
Errors when Reading CD
If the CD or DVD you’re attempting to use is in pristine condition the problem itself may lay with the optical drive itself. That particular disk may not be supported by the optical drive, the drive itself may be broken or the operating system could have some mild corruption.
