Volume cannot be controlled by volume buttons. If you cannot hear anything or the volume is barely audible, follow this troubleshooting guide for potential solutions.
Volume Is Turned Down or Muted
The most common reason for volume not working is that the volume is either muted or turned down too low.
Check the volume control settings on both the baby monitor unit and the parent unit. Ensure the volume is not set to the lowest level or muted. Adjust the volume up to a level that is comfortable for hearing. If the monitor has a separate mute button, press it to unmute the sound.
Interference from Other Wireless Devices
Interference from other wireless devices like routers, laptops, or cordless phones could affect the sound quality.
Try moving the baby monitor to a different location away from other wireless devices. Ensure that no other devices are operating on the same frequency as your BM20 monitor. Try turning off nearby wireless devices to see if the sound quality improves.
Connection Issues or Weak Signal
If the connection between the parent unit and the baby unit is weak, it may affect the volume or cause intermittent sound.
Ensure that the units are within the recommended range for connection. Being too far apart could cause weak signal issues. Move the parent unit closer to the baby unit to improve the connection. If you're using multiple monitors, reduce interference by turning off extra devices.
Volume Distortion or Static
Sometimes, the sound might come through distorted or with static noise, making it hard to hear.
Check for any obstructions or interference between the units that could cause static or distortion. Ensure both units are fully charged and synced correctly. Try resetting the baby monitor by turning both units off and on again. If the static persists, you may need to update the firmware of the device (if applicable) or consult customer support for further guidance.
Baby Monitor Battery Low or Faulty Battery
If the battery of either the baby or parent unit is low, the volume may not work properly.
Charge both units for 2-3 hours or until fully charged. Once the device is charged, check if the volume functions normally again. Refer to Battery replacement guide on how to replace your battery if the battery won't charge.
Monitor Units Not Synced
If the parent unit and baby unit are not properly synced, sound might not come through.
Power both units off, then power them back on. Follow the syncing procedure outlined in the user manual to reconnect the units. Once successfully synced, check if the sound issue is resolved.
The Two Units Are Not Connected
If none of the above solutions work, resetting the baby monitor to factory settings may help resolve the issue.
Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to reset your BM20 Wireless Baby Monitor. After resetting, set up the monitor again and test if the sound issue is fixed.
Faulty Microphone or Speaker
The microphone in the baby unit or the speaker in the parent unit may be malfunctioning.
Check for any visible signs of damage to the microphone or speaker. Test the microphone by talking near the baby unit. Check if the parent unit picks up sound. If the speaker is not working, test it by playing a sound or music through the parent unit. If either part is not functioning, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
