When using a Bissell CleanView 3508, is the vacuum lacking enough suction power to pick up debris? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.
Vacuum Has No Power
When using any vacuum, one cause of no/low suction would be a problem with the power outlet itself. This is why it's important to check not only the power vacuum cable, but also the outlet to ensure proper contact.
- For checking the cord: unplug the vacuum and run your hand along the entire length of the power cord; the power cord should be smooth.
- Check the plug and prongs for any damage. Any damage would cause a proper connection to not be made.
- Test the power outlet: To quickly check if the power outlet is working properly, plug in a phone or small appliance and check if it is receiving power properly.
- If there is no power, try resetting the circuit breaker if needed or try another power outlet.
Clogged Filters
The vacuum's filter filter’s out the fine dust from the hose to prevent damage to the motor. A buildup in this dust can cause other dust to get clogged as well, clogging up the filter causing a loss in suction power.
- Start by removing and opening the dirt tank to access the filter.
- Remove the filter from the tank, rinse with warm water, and wash with dish soap if necessary.
- Dry and place the filter back into the tank and reassemble the vacuum.
- If the issue persists, a large issue may be the cause.
Breach in the Hose
The vacuum moves air & dirt from the floor and into the tank. It must travel through the hose to get there. If the hose is not sealed, the air will leak, and the vacuum will lose suction power.
- Check that the hose at the base. Is it attached to the base? If not, attach the hose back.
- If the suction is still weak, check the inside of the hose for debris. If there is debris, the hose is clogged, and you must push an object through the hose to clear it. After it is clear, attach the hose back to the base and test again.
- If the vacuum still lacks suction power, inspect the hose. There may be a tear. If so, you can attempt a temporary solution by sealing the tear with something like duct tape. Otherwise, the hose will need to be replaced.
