Camera Access Turned Off
If you’re experiencing camera issues with your Acer Chromebook Spin 714C, it may be due to the Camera Access not being turned on.
- Open the settings
- Find and select “Privacy and Security” on the left side of the window.
- Locate the camera access toggle and switch to “On”
Camera Shutter Closed
The Acer Chromebook Spin 714C has a very small, physical camera shutter that is not easy to notice. It may have accidentally been closed, causing it to block the camera.
- Inspect the top edge of the Chromebook 714C
- Verify the small switch is slid towards the right, which is the “open” position, per the User Manual. You should also not be able to see a red dot.
Outdated ChromeOS (Chrome Operating System), Driver, or Another Program
An outdated, incompatible or bugged ChromeOS may cause your camera to not function as it should. If a faulty program is the cause, these are some things you can try.
- Verify the program you are using is compatible with ChromeOS, and if the camera issue is also present in other programs
- Update the camera’s drivers
- Update ChromeOS
