If your ASUS Chromebook CX1400CN is overheating, follow this page for possible solutions.
Blocked air vents
Dust the bottom of your laptop or use a compressed air blower to remove fine debris. If needed, move the laptop to a hard, flat surface to keep the vents from being blocked.
Worn out thermal paste
Power down your Chromebook and open the case using a screwdriver, then disconnect the battery from the motherboard. Locate the heat sink covering the CPU. As you remove the heat sink screws, be sure to keep track of their locations for reassembly. Clean the old thermal paste off the CPU using a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol, then apply a fresh layer of new paste. Finally, reinstall the heat sink and reassemble the case.
