There is no need to remove the buttons or the display for the battery replacement. This guide was made with a teardown device and those were removed in between. However it isn‘t mandatory in order to remove the battery.

Hey David, I guess this should work for your repair! But make sure to remove all the adhesive leftovers from your old force touch, screen and watch housing before reinstalling the force touch (for example with a Q-tip and high concentration isopropyl alcohol >90%). Otherwise the new double adhesive and force touch sandwich might become too thick and you won‘t be able to close the watch seamlessly.

you can detach the telephoto camera from the assembly easily including its frame. It is only held to the assembly by a small metal pin. However separating the cameras from their frame is very difficult. The frame sits very tight around them and in case of the ultra-wide and wide cameras you risk damaging both when trying to remove one.

here is a general resealing guide that might help you. Depending on your force touch replacement part you‘ll need one two or no adhesive strips.
If your force touch was never removed you need to place new adhesive on top of it the adhere the screen. If your force touch has adhesive on the bottom side it is the same. Adhere the force touch into the watch frame and place adhesive on top of it to adhere the screen. If there is adhesive on the top of the force touch you need to place the adhesive strip beneath.
If your force touch didn‘t come with any adhesive preinstalled you need adhesive tape below to secure it to the watch frame and on top to secure the screen.

you‘re right. You can change the button caps in one step by using tweezers. However in this guide you see how you can replace the mechanical button of the A,B,X & Y button and not only the cap.

durch das Öffnen de Uhr werden die wasserdichten Dichtungen beschädigt. Wenn diese nicht ersetzt werden, ist die Uhr nicht mehr wasserdicht. Wie wasserdicht die Uhr nach der Reparatur tatsächlich ist, hängt aber davon ab, wie passgenau neue Dichtungen eingesetzt und die Uhr verschlossen wird. Das IP68 Rating wird sie in jedem Fall verlieren.

the fingerprint sensor is glued to the back cover. To transfer the fingerprint reader you need appropriate custom cut adhesive to adhere it to your new back cover. You should be able to remove it by placing and iOpener for about 1 minute onto the back cover where the fingerprint reader is located (following the iOpener instructions) and carefully sliding an opening pick underneath the edges of the reader to separate it from the back cover. Be especially carefully in the area where the chip is located and avoid overheating it. Good luck with your repair!

that‘s right. However due to the phone’s design, we recommend removing the lithium-ion battery in order to remove the screen and have better access to the components. We mention this in the introduction of this guide.

yes it is possible to damage the display if you expose it to too much heat. At the latest when the display discolors under heat, it has become too hot and is damaged. A guideline is about 80 to 90 degrees maximum temperature. If you don't have the possibility to check the temperature exactly, it is recommended to heat the display several times with a lower temperature and to test again and again whether the adhesive can be loosened yet. The device should get just warm enough that you can still touch it.
