    • This is not a true teardown, just a showing of the guts. This unit is the last generation before Bluetooth became common in the aftermarket. My unit was manufactured in September of 2013

    • Once you remove the Face and CD player, which is one complete assembly, There really is NOT a lot inside of these units. The same applied to later models with Bluetooth as the chipset is very small and just sits on the very corner of the PCB

    • The Faceplate only has 2 IC's on it. The main is a Pioneer PDC202B. This is the driver for the LCD. The other is a BH2227FV. Its most likely used for the buttons on the face

    • The main board is of course where all the fun stuff is located at.

    • Power amp is a Pioneer PA2032A. Its quite stout being 2Ω stable and capable of over 40W at 2Ω. This is likely a rebadge of a modern day TDA or even STPA00x IC from STMicro

    • This big guy is a 726A0D216FP Microprocessor. This is going to have all of the DSP functions of the unit

    • TDA7706. This is a highly integrated AM/FM tuner designed for automotive decks. Also supports RDS and HD Radio

    • Pioneer PM9013A. Unsure what exactly this is as the Pioneer custom branding make it hard to track down as Pioneer doesnt make datasheets very easy to find. Its possible this also drives the RCA pre outs.

    • This BD9876 is right being the RCA preouts so i assumed it is a line level preamp driver, but according to datasheets its actually a Buck Switching Regulator

    • The 2nd largest IC is a BA49183 multiple output voltage regulator. This will power the microprocessor and higher draw components like the motors on the CD mechanism

    • A Cost cutting trick used on these decks is neither the power amp or voltage regulator have any thermal goop on them. So before reassembly i installed some on both IC's. The voltage regulator gets hotter then you would think! especially while playing a CD. Around 135F is normal. The power amp IC under full load can easily reach over 170F!
