My wife's Macbook Pro 15" A1260 (2008) GPU (nvidia chipset) quit working on logic board. The screen slowly gave out, large pixels followed and then the computer wouldn't even boot up.

The removal of the logic board was much easier than I anticipated. Big thanks to the ifixit.com repair guide (MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 and A1260 Logic Board Replacement). Currently I'm waiting for a new logic board to arrive in the mail and will update this post after completing that.

I used blue painter's tape to hold the screws for each step with the corresponding step # written on the tape. All the little connections to the logic board are very fragile. Take note the direction they remove from the board. Some come straight up others slide out.

I highly recommend purchasing the exact tools needed, (Spudger, T6 Torx and PH#00 screwdriver) I also needed a PH#0 screwdriver.
