My old iPod 4th Gen/Photo couldn't hold a charge anymore, and it seemed a shame to abandon it when new batteries are so cheap. At 60GB, it can still hold my entire music library.

It was fairly difficult to pry the iPod apart; I broke one small plastic iPod opening tool in the process and ended up wedging a credit card in the opening to keep it from snapping shut while I worked my way around the side of it. It was also really difficult to get the old battery disconnected...ended up using needle nose pliers to wiggle the connector back and forth. Even with those struggles, the replacement took less than 10 minutes.

Discovered that the casing can withstand a fair amount of brute force! Also, you may need to get creative with the tools you use to pry it open and remove the battery.
