Difficult

In replacing a bad charging port on an iPhone 4S, I tore the very delicate home button ribbon cable.

Not great. First, I discovered I ordered the wrong charging port (I was repairing a 4s, not a 4 - I got a 4 charge port) from a supplier who <gasp!> was not iFixit. While it was a quarter of the cost of the iFixit part, it was labelled ambiguously on their website. While the port for the 4 and the 4s are similar in almost every manner, the main ribbon cable of the 4s is a hair longer. In the process of trying to figure out why the wrong charge port wouldn't fit, I bumped the home button ribbon cable with a small screwdriver and tore it. Once I had all the correct parts, however, the repair went rather well.

I tried to buy inexpensive parts without fully knowing what I was getting. Paying for repeat shipping and extra parts more than doubled what I might have paid if I'd just bought all of it from iFixit. Also, that home button ribbon cable is SUPER fragile, and has to be torqued a little to be removed and re-inserted. One slight twitch and you'll tear it.
