My 2012 15" Retina MacBook Pro made a creaking sound when you pressed down around the trackpad. I brought it in to the Apple store Genius Bar twice with only marginal reduction in the sound. I wanted to open the case myself and I knew I needed a pentalobe screwdriver. I searched the Web and found iFixit's Web site that allowed me to buy one.

The pentalobe screwdriver allowed me to remove the screws and open up the case. I didn't really know what causes the creaking sound so I didn't do much besides vacuum the dust out of the fans. But when I put the case back on the creaking sound had gone away almost entirely. I was able to fix something with an iFixit product that the Genius Bar couldn't or wouldn't fix for me.

If you have a modern MacBook you need an iFixit pentalobe screwdriver if only to remove the dust that will accumulate on the fans and other parts of the internals which could cause the fans to work harder than they need to.
