Replaced Hardrive in my iMac -2428

I ran out of space on my Hardrive.

I am questioning if I did it right because, my hardrive is running very loud. Also the fan in my computer runs very fast; then it slows down at times. Sometimes I shut my iMac down in order to cool it down. I upgraded from 500GB to 3TB's. The hardrive is a seagate drive. Model: ST3000DM001-9YN166. My computer is: 21.5-inch, Mid 2011

Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB

Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

Do you think I need to contact seagate, because Apple is out of the question?

P.S. The suction cups worked wonderful. That was the simpless thing about the repair.

Make sure that the hardrive is compatible with your computer. Even though I talked to technicians at Bestbuy & Comp USA, I think they gave me the wrong advise. They all told me that any drive would work in my iMac. Now I'm fearful that my computer might crash. I'm a Graphic Designer. HELP
