After moving my internals to the new casing, I keep encountering this screen (second image) after connecting the battery to the motherboard. The volume button would not detect the right input. I cleaned the volume buttons multiple times and nothing worked.

I figured out the problem. My new casing didn't have the part in the square glued to the case, it was lifted up and flopping around. It took me a while to realize, but it isn't supposed to be on top of the motherboard; it's supposed to rest under it.

Make sure everything looks in place and compare it to your previous casing; you might save yourself the 20 minutes I sacrificed to fiddling around with volume buttons.
