My macbook was sat on... Needless to say the display didn't survive. It took me forever to find a replacement that didn't cost an arm and a leg, only an Arm. Apple wanted $900 for the repair. The entire machine was only $1200. I found LaTronics on Ebay. They had a display for $500 with a $100 credit for returning the old display.
It arrived and I used the iFixit guide to replace the display myself. A lot of screws but nothing really difficult. Put it back together and now I have a functioning mac again.
Thanks

The repair went well. I did have to take it back apart and recheck all my display connections. The first time it booted, but the display was dark. I was afraid I had received a bad display. But, after reconnecting everything and closing it back up the screen came to life.

Take your time. Place your screws and parts together in a pattern on a piece of paper in the order that they go back into the mac.
