This might've been the most fun I've had for $15...

My iPod battery tanked a few years ago, and because I'm stubborn, I held onto it.

The repair went really well - it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be, and not as hard as the other users had mentioned. (Granted, everyone's case is different.) I actually found it harder to get the thing back together than to get it apart.

Two big bits of advice/warnings:

1. find yourself a pair of curved jeweler's forceps. I used them to loosen the battery harness clip. Miraculous.

and

2. The replacement battery was actually 1-2 mm larger than the original battery, so I had to squish the malleable wrapper around to get the iPod shell back on. Cross your fingers.
