iFixit Takes Tokyo: iPhone 7 Teardowns Incoming

Apple just announced its latest batch of high-tech goodies, which means our teardown team is packing its bags and heading to Japan. Why Japan? I’m glad you asked. Tokyo is a full 16 hours ahead of California, and their Apple stores are, too—which means we can serve up the teardowns you crave before the iPhone 7 even hits shelves in the US.

iPhone 7 teardowns are coming

Our team of engineers will be doing back-to-back-to-back teardowns of the iPhone 7 Plus, the iPhone 7, and the Apple Watch Series 2 (if we can get our hands on one)—starting on the eve of Thursday, September 15 through the wee hours of the morning on Friday. And we’ll be doing it live. It’s bound to get real silly, so be sure to follow along on iFixit.com/teardown as our teardown team dismantles and analyzes Apple’s newest offerings. You can also keep up with our team on Twitter and Facebook.

In case you were wondering, ripping your favorite Apple products down to their respective bits takes a lot of work and coordination. How much work? Take a peek at last year’s iPhone 6s teardown adventure to Australia:

If you want to be the first to know what we find as we dismantle the iPhone 7, be sure to add your name to our press list. We’ll send out a notification when the teardowns are up and running.
