Happy International Repair Day 2025!

At iFixit, every day is repair day, but this one’s special. The global repair community is turning out on behalf of software: Our right to repair our hardware ends where the software spites our screwdrivers. (Or something like that.)

Just this week, Windows 10 officially reached end of life, leaving more than 400 million computers vulnerable and potentially headed for the scrap heap. We’ve been working with repair advocates around the world to urge Microsoft to extend support and prevent that tidal wave of e-waste. (They haven’t budged yet, aside from a partial one-year extension in Europe, but we’re not done fighting.)

Our right to repair our hardware ends where the software spites our screwdrivers.

Meanwhile, we’re working on new ways to make fixing more accessible than ever. Our new partnership with Micro Center means you’ll be able to count on the quality of iFixit tools and parts when you take your gadgets into Micro Center. At a free consultation, Micro Center techs will work with you on troubleshooting and diagnosis. If you feel confident you can fix it yourself, they’ll get you the right parts and tools and guides, then step back and let you do the work.

Across the pond, we’ve teamed up with Team Repair to help kids learn the joy of fixing early, with educational repair kits that turn curiosity into confidence. We’re distributing these kits internationally for the first time, getting them to kids in the US and Europe.

And to top it off, we joined Google engineers and repair advocates at their Repair Day event celebrating the impressively repairable Pixel Watch 4, a smartwatch that proves accessibility and sustainability can coexist beautifully.

Repair events are happening celebrating International Repair Day around the world; check out the Open Repair Alliance’s great list.

Repair is about designing a future where we can keep the things we love running longer. Today, and every day, we’re proud to be building that future with all of you.

Happy Repair Day from all of us at iFixit. Keep fixing.
