From June 9 to July 31, 82 incredible community members joined forces to make repair more accessible around the world. Across seven languages—French, Spanish, Japanese, German, Italian, English, and Dutch—these volunteers translated an astonishing 2,411 repair guides.
We kicked off the Translation Challenge to expand the reach of iFixit repair guides, and our community delivered:
“I’m proud to help bring knowledge to everyone, no matter their language. Repair should be universal.” – Penny
Thanks to their work, people around the world can fix their devices, in the language they speak. That’s not just helpful. It’s transformative.
🏆 The Winners
Five multilingual repair heroes stood out for their extraordinary contributions:

Angel (Spanish): Nearly 2,000 guides translated—an epic feat that helped propel this year’s challenge to new heights.
Penny (Spanish): Our longtime contributor and moderator whose steady dedication continues to strengthen our Spanish-language content.

Martin (Dutch): Brought Dutch repair guides to life with thoughtful, high-quality translations that focused on coffee machine fixes.
Jana (German): Handled complex repair guides with clarity and care, and brought her offline repair passion online. She also organizes repair cafés and “geekends” at w3rkhof.ch.

Electro_yo (French): Energized the French guide library with detailed, accessible translations.
What did they win?!? Some of our favorite tools:
🌳 Tree by Tree, Word by Word
To recognize every participant’s impact, we planted 50 trees in the iFixit Forest on Tree Nation. You may not have taken first place, but your words made repair knowledge more accessible to thousands—and helped grow a forest. That’s real impact.
“I enjoy translating iFixit repair guides because it gives people the opportunity to repair their devices and save them from becoming e-waste.” – Martin
🚀 What’s Next?
