  • As we start our teardownunder we're greeted by a now-familiar face. Features include:

  • Solid-state home "button" with Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

  • A (still) IPS display similar to the one we found in the iPhone 7 (but now featuring True Tone).

  • On the backside, we spy the iPhone's snazzy new glass backing with its seven-layer color finish.

  • Apple assures everyone that this rear panel is reinforced with "an internal laser-welded steel and copper structure," but time and durability tests will tell if this phone will suffer from a snap, crackle, pop—or yet another Bendgate.

  • Jury is still out on the model number and the missing wheely-bin symbol.

  • Finally, before getting to work, we take a second to line up our new gold iPhone 8 and yesteryear's rose gold 6s. Apple has certainly refined (and re-refined) this design, in addition to stripping a little pink from the finish.

Mentre ci apprestiamo al nostro smontaggio, ci accoglie una faccia piuttosto familiare. Tra le caratteristiche notiamo:

Un pulsante home a stato solido con il sensore di impronte digitali Touch ID.

Un display (ancora) IPS simile a quello che avevamo trovato nell'iPhone 7 (ma ora con True Tone).

Sul lato posteriore, rileviamo il nuovo e sciccoso retro di vetro con la sua finitura colorata a sette strati.

Apple rassicura il mondo dicendo che il pannello posteriore è rinforzato con "una struttura interna saldata col laser in acciaio e rame", ma il tempo e i test di resistenza diranno se questo telefono soffrirà di rotture, crepe o se si renderà protagonista di un altro bendgate.

La giuria sta ancora dibattendo sul numero del modello e sull'assenza del simbolo del bidone con le ruote.

Infine, prima di metterci a lavorare, ci concediamo un secondo per allineare il nostro nuovo iPhone 8 oro e il 6S oro rosa dell'anno scorso. Apple ha certamente raffinato (e ri-raffinato) questo design, oltre a togliere un po' di rosa dalla finitura.
