Boot from the Floppy

  • Boot your Tecra M5 from the maintenance floppy. Select option 2: Repair initial config set. This is supposed to shut down your system when it finishes, but it failed to terminate on my laptop. Eventually I removed the floppy and rebooted my Tecra M5 laptop.

  • The Settings/System/About dialog now shows the updated CPU.

  • The device manager now shows the updated CPU.

  • Running the maintenance tool is also supposed to cure the problem of the fan running at full speed following a CPU upgrade.

Démarrer depuis la disquette

Démarrez votre Tecra M5 depuis la disquette de maintenance. Sélectionnez l’option 2 : « Repair initial config set ». Il devrait éteindre votre système lorsqu’il aura terminé, mais il n’a pas réussi à éteint mon ordinateur portable. Donc j’ai retiré la disquette et j’ai redémarré mon ordinateur portable Tecra M5.

La fenêtre Paramètre/Système/à propos montre maintenant le nouveau CPU.

Le gestionnaire de périphériques devrait maintenant montrer le nouveau CPU.

L’exécution de l’outil de maintenance est aussi censée corriger le problème du ventilateur qui fonctionne constamment à sa vitesse maximale après un changement de processeur.
