Remove the seven Phillips #00 screws that hold the metal component to the frame
Detach the two ribbon cables on either side of the silver panel
Be careful to not tear the ribbon cables hidden behind the panel
Gently lift the silver panel from the laptop using the plastic opening tool
Set the laptop aside
depending on your model, there could still be some hidden screws on the bottom of the case of the mini that hold the palm-rest in place
