Remove the broken diode
  • To desolder the broken diode, apply heat to one side while lifting the diode with tweezers. Repeat on the other side until the diode comes loose.

  • If the solder seems to not want to melt, try using a larger soldering tip to transfer more heat and melt the solder faster.

  • After removing the shorted diode, the access point should power up and function normally. However, omitting this step could result in further damage if an overvoltage event occurs.

[title] Remove the broken diode
-[* black] Desolder the broken diode. Apply heat to one lead while lifting the diode with tweezers. Once the solder melts the part should lift up. Repeat on the other lead.
- [* icon_note] If the solder does not seem to melt, and the temperature is already plenty high, try using a bigger tip. Sometimes that helps to transfer more heat to the lead, melting the solder faster.
-[* icon_note] Once the shorted diode is removed, the access point should power up and work as normal. However, omitting this part will potentially cause more damage if an over voltage event occurs.
+[* black] To desolder the broken diode, apply heat to one side while lifting the diode with [product|IF145-020|tweezers]. Repeat on the other side until the diode comes loose.
+ [* icon_reminder] If the solder seems to not want to melt, try using a larger soldering tip to transfer more heat and melt the solder faster.
+[* icon_note] After removing the shorted diode, the access point should power up and function normally. However, omitting this step could result in further damage if an overvoltage event occurs.
