Final Thoughts

  • The MacBook Pro 13" with Function Keys earns a 2 out of 10 on our repairability scale (10 is the easiest to repair):

  • The trackpad can be removed without first removing the battery.

  • Proprietary pentalobe screws continue to make opening the device unnecessarily difficult.

  • The battery assembly is entirely, and very solidly, glued into the case, thus complicating replacement.

  • The RAM is soldered to the logic board. Pay for the upgrade now, or be stuck with 8 GB forever. There is no chance of upgrade.

  • The proprietary PCIe SSD still isn't a standard drive. Cross your fingers for future compatible drives; for now, you're stuck with what you've got.

De MacBook Pro 13" met Function Keys verdient 2 van de 10 punten op onze repareerbaarheidsschaal (10 is het gemakkelijkst te repareren):

Het trackpad kan worden verwijderd zonder de batterij eerst te hoeven verwijderen.

Propriëtaire pentalobe-schroeven blijven het openen van de laptop onnodig bemoeilijken.

De batterijmodule is in z'n geheel, en niet onverdienstelijk, in de behuizing vastgelijmd, wat vervanging ernstig compliceert.

De RAM is aan het logic board vastgesoldeerd. Betaal dus direct voor de upgrade of blijf voor altijd met 8 GB aan RAM zitten. Geen mogelijkheid tot upgrade's.

De propriëtaire PCIe SSD is nog steeds geen standaard schijf. Brand een kaarsje voor de mogelijkheid op toekomst compatibele schijven; voor nu zul je opgescheept zitten met wat je hebt.
